1．How can I enter the homepage of the library?
(1) Directly type “ http://lib.gdou.edu.cn;” in the address bar， or
(2) Enter the homepage of Guangdong Ocean University （http://www.gdou.edu.cn）, then click “Library”

2. To whom can I ask the questions about the library?
Please read the introductions of our departments and contact with the involved department to get the answers for your question about it. Or you can call Reader Service Department. Its telephone number is 0759-2383630. The library holds Reader Conversation twice a semester, in which the readers can get consultation. The date will be publicized in related notices

3. To whom can I express my comments or suggestions?
You can send letters or email to the director. The email address of the director is available on the homepage.

4. Is the library open all day?
Our Main Library is open from 8：10 to 22：30 and it is open from Monday to Sunday. Please browse “Hours” to look for the open time of the other two libraries.

5. How are library resources arranged?
Please browse “Maps” in “Reader Services”

6. Where can I get the materials on how to make use of the libraries?
Please require such materials from “Reader Service Department”on the fourth floor in Main Library.

7. What is the relationship between the libraries of our university?
The library on the main campus is the main one and the libraries on Xiashan and Haibin campuses are subject to Main Library. They are respectively called Xiashan Borrowing and Reading Department and Haibin Borrowing and Reading Department.

8. How can I recommend some new books or periodicals to our library?
Please deliver the list of recommended books or periodicals directly to “Literature Acquisition and Cataloging Department” on the third floor in Main Library, or call up 0759-2383621, or send email to the department.

9. What lectures about reader training does the library hold and where can I get related information?
Please contact Information Consultation and Reader Training Department (0759- 2383619）or Library’s Office（0759-2383626）and pay attention to the notices or news on the homepage.（lib.gdou.edu.cn）

10. Can I be online in the libraries?
Yes, you can. Multimedia Reading Section on the fifth floor, Information Retrieval Section on the sixth floor, Electronic Reading Room in Haibin and Xiashan all provide online services.

11. What the difference between Multimedia Reading Section and Information Retrieval Section?
Multimedia Reading Section offers other multimedia resources like VCD except online service while there is only online service in Information Retrieval Section.

12. Where can I borrowing Chinese books?
The Chinese books on the second and third floors in Main Library, in Xiashan and Haibin Borrowing and Reading Departments can be borrowed and read while the Chinese books on the fifth floor in Main Library can only be read in the library.

13. Where can I borrow foreign language books?
The foreign language books on the second and third floors in Main Library, in Xiashan Borrowing and Reading Department can be borrowed and read while the foreign language books on the fifth floor in Main Library can only be read in the library.

14. Where can I borrow new books?
The new books on the second and third floors in Main Library can be borrowed and read while the new books on the fifth floor in Main Library can only be read in the library.

15. Where can I read the periodicals?
On the fourth floor.

16. Where can I read newspapers?
On the Newspaper Reading Section on the first floor in Main Library, Newspaper Reading Room on the third floor in Xiashan Borrowing and Reading Department and Newspaper Reading Room on the second floor in Haibin Borrowing and Reading Department.　　

17. Where can I read retrieval books and reference books?
The retrieval books are in Retrieval Reading Section on the sixth floor in Main Library and reference books are in Reference Works Reading Section on the sixth floor in Main Library 20

18. Can all the collection be searched in the computer retrieval system of our library?
Yes.

19. Can I search the resources of other libraries in our library?
No, temporarily not.

20. What will I do if I lost my reader card?
Please report the loss of your reader card to Reader Service Department in time.

21. Can I borrow books using others’ reader cards?
No, you can. It is forbidden and you will be fined five yuan for so doing.

22. Can I borrow other books when some of my borrowed books are overdue?
No, you can not. You must return all the overdue books before you borrow some other books.

23. Does the library offer literature retrieval service or scientific project evaluation service?
Yes, please contact Information Consultation and Reader Training Department and offer your requirement.

24. Does the library offer printing service?
Yes, please go to Current Periodical Reading Section on the fourth floor in Main Library.
